Job summary

CDM Smith, a leading engineering and construction firm, seeks an experienced estimator in Hawaii to prepare and analyze design/build and GMP estimates. You will evaluate bids, perform quantity take-offs, and develop subcontractor scopes for diverse projects.

Travel up to 10% is expected; strong communication and PC-based estimating skills are required. The role supports bid day activities and coordination across disciplines in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.
• Reads and comprehends drawings and specifications and identify missing elements during design development.
• Ability to perform conceptual estimates in multiple trades and review estimates in many trades.
• Ability to estimate many types of projects/contracts.
• Strong personal computer and Estimating and On-Screen digitizing software skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design/build, engineer, construction management, GMP, and hard-bid estimates/proposals.
• Analyze quotations prior to and on bid day; evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Enter quantity take-offs and material unit pricing for projects.
• Develop subcontractor and vendor scopes; coordinate with estimating functions.
• Provide guidance to junior staff in estimating procedures and software use.
• Manage bid day activities and project close-out tasks.
