Job summary

HGC Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, GMPs, and competitive bids for complex commercial projects. You will perform meticulous takeoffs, review drawings and contracts, and collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and subs to shape cost strategies from preconstruction onward.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous construction estimating experience with detailed takeoffs and cost development from drawings and specs.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, subcontractor scopes, and interpreting documents.
• Proficiency with estimating software, digital takeoff tools, and Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of cost control, project risk, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical, numerical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, GMPs, and competitive bids for commercial construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and review drawings, specifications, and contract documents for complete scope coverage.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, project risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
• Present estimate summaries, assumptions, clarifications, and value-engineering recommendations.
• Maintain current cost data, market pricing, and estimating tools.
• Support project handoffs from preconstruction to operations.
• Use Sage Estimating and digital takeoff platforms such as Autodesk Takeoff or On-Screen Takeoff.
• Conduct site visits as needed.
