Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare and analyze design/build, engineer, construction management, GMP and hard-bid estimates. You will evaluate bids, develop subcontractor scopes, and coordinate pricing with suppliers while guiding junior staff.

Responsibilities include quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and applying accurate WBS structures to complex projects, with travel as required. Strong communication and multi-tasking are essential.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control.
• Reads drawings and specs, identifies missing elements during design development.
• Ability to prepare opinions of probable construction costs and develop subcontractor scopes.

Responsibilities

• Prepares design/build, engineer, construction management, GMP and hard-bid estimates/proposals.
• Analyzes quotations before and on bid day.
• Evaluates bids from subcontractors and suppliers for scope, delivery, and specs compliance.
• Enters quantity take-offs and material unit pricing for projects.
• Recognizes and applies WBS structure to the project scope.
• Coordinates with overall estimating functions and vendors for pricing.
• Guides junior staff in estimating procedures and software use.
• Manages bid day and close-out activities.
• Performs additional duties as required.
