Job summary

Blythe Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare and review estimate packages for roadway and asphalt paving projects. You will read plans, solicit subcontractor quotes, and perform cost analysis to produce competitive bids.

The role requires 5+ years of estimating experience in asphalt paving or roadway construction, a degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, and proven ability to interpret blueprints and specifications. Office-based with site visits as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years of experience bidding asphalt paving and/or roadway construction projects.
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
• Experience working for a General Contractor bidding on Department of Transportation or roadway projects between $1M and $25M.

Responsibilities

• Read/review plans, proposals, specifications, RFPs, and other project documents to develop estimate/bid packages.
• Solicit estimates from subcontractors and vendors to prepare estimate packages.
• Prepare reports and analysis pertinent to estimating as requested by management.
• Review labor, equipment, and material costs for estimate preparation.
• Prepare accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings for Asphalt Paving and Roadway/Site Development.
• Produce detailed final contract estimates for paving and roadway projects.
• Assess project exposures and reflect costs in the estimate; identify construction risks.
• Identify value-engineering alternatives.
