Job summary

Blythe Construction seeks a Chief Estimator to lead the Estimating Department for large heavy highway and civil contracting projects. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and at least 15 years of highway/ paving experience, plus bid-development expertise.

The Chief Estimator will oversee takeoffs, budgets, vendor solicitations, and team coordination, maintaining client relationships and ensuring quality standards. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management is required.
• Minimum 15 years of highway construction and asphalt paving experience.
• Experience in all phases of bid and proposal development.

Responsibilities

• Attend Pre-Bid Meetings and site visits to collect information.
• Lead estimating team and coordinate estimates with senior management.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoff and summaries.
• Prepare construction budgets by studying plans and updating specifications.
• Solicit bids and proposals from vendors and subcontractors; negotiate price.
• Maintain customer/client relationships and communicate actions across teams.
• Travel as required.
