Job summary

Petra Construction Corporation, a trusted CT builder, seeks a Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for commercial, institutional and residential projects. You will analyze plans, specs, proposals, and other docs to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates in a high-impact role.

You will manage bid processes, subcontractor relationships, and cross-functional collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients, ensuring accurate and competitive estimates for awarded

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CM/Engineering/Architecture/Math/Construction Science.
• Minimum 10 years of construction estimating experience.
• Strong knowledge of CT market, codes and costs.
• Proficient in estimating software and MS Office.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for conceptual, bid, and negotiated work.
• Lead bid process from pre-bid to contract award.
• Analyze drawings and specs to produce accurate estimates.
• Manage subcontractor/vendor relationships and solicit bids.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, and internal teams.
• Evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids and present estimates when required.
• Provide thorough hand-off of estimates to Project Management.

Our team is driven by innovation, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. We're looking for a Senior Estimator who shares our passion for precision, collaboration, and leadership.

As a Senior Estimator, you will lead the preconstruction and estimating efforts for a variety of projects across Connecticut. You'll be responsible for analyzing plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates. This is a high-impact role!

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates (conceptual, bid, and negotiated).
• Lead bid process from pre-bid through post-bid scope reviews and contract award.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and competitive estimates.
• Manage and maintain subcontractor/vendor relationships and solicit competitive bids.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, and internal teams.
• Evaluate subcontractor and vendor bid proposals.
• Participate in the presentation of a bid and/or estimate to the client when required.
• Provide a detailed, informed hand-off of the estimate for awarded projects to Project Management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics, or Construction Science.
• Minimum 10 years of construction industry experience with the majority in an estimating function.
• Strong understanding of local construction market, codes, and costs in Connecticut.
• Proficient in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar) and MS Office.
• Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
