We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate, competitive, and commercially sound estimates for a range of construction and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will manage the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission, ensuring that all pricing is supported by clear assumptions, robust analysis, and a thorough understanding of project requirements. This role will suit a detail-focused professional who can work confidently with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
Key responsibilities include reviewing drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, scopes of work, and contract documents; identifying risks, exclusions, and opportunities; preparing detailed cost plans and tender pricing; obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations; and ensuring estimates are aligned with programme, procurement, and delivery requirements. You will maintain accurate estimating records, contribute to bid reviews, support value-engineering exercises, and prepare clear commercial submissions for approval. The role will also involve mentoring junior estimators, improving estimating processes, and supporting effective handover to the project delivery and commercial teams.
Applicants should have substantial experience in a senior estimating role within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or a related sector, together with a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labour costs, procurement, and subcontracting practices. A relevant technical, commercial, or quantity surveying qualification is desirable. You will need excellent analytical and numerical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical information accurately. Experience using estimating software, digital take-off tools, spreadsheets, and common project documentation systems is expected. Strong communication, negotiation, organisation, and time-management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple tenders and meet demanding deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity.
