Job summary

Metric DCX is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator / Preconstruction manager to join the Estimating/Preconstruction team in Dallas, TX. The role focuses on preparing budgets and bids for construction projects and providing ongoing preconstruction support during development phases.

Responsibilities include leading multi-discipline estimates, mentoring estimators, developing subcontractor lists, and driving project strategy with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of estimating experience.
• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute effectively to multiple projects and pursuits simultaneously.
• Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Analyse drawings, specifications, proposals, and other project documentation to develop accurate time, cost, and labour estimates.
• Lead or perform portions of estimates for multi-discipline projects, including accurate quantity surveying and pricing.
• Supervise, mentor, and train estimators within your area of expertise.
• Develop qualified subcontractor and vendor lists, solicit quotations, and evaluate bids for scope, completeness, and qualifications.
• Lead meetings with subcontractors to establish complete scopes, clarify requirements, and develop project strategy.
• Support risk assessment and contract management activities throughout the bidding process.
• Assist in developing strategies to achieve minority participation requirements.
• Review completed estimates prior to formal quotation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor estimated costs against actual project costs and identify opportunities for improved accuracy.
• Research and implement more efficient estimating processes and methodologies.
• Visit construction sites and assess unusual, complex, or challenging site conditions.
• Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to develop effective preconstruction strategies.

Basic Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of experience in estimating .
• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute effectively to multiple projects and pursuits simultaneously.
• Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines.
• Highly detail-oriented with strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience with conceptual, detailed, and self-perform estimating.
• Knowledge and experience of the local subcontractor market is highly desirable.
