Job summary

Selby Jennings is recruiting a Senior Associate for a leading investment bank's Equity Research platform in New York. The role focuses on the Consumer & Retail sector, exposing you to fundamental company analysis, primary research, and financial modeling.

You will work closely with a senior publishing analyst, covering public consumer and retail names and communicating insights to institutional clients. NY-based, in-office role with discretionary bonus opportunity.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, buy-side research, or related analytical role
• Strong financial modeling and accounting skills
• Demonstrated interest in public markets and investing
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into a clear investment thesis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized, intellectually curious, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop detailed financial and valuation models
• Perform in-depth fundamental research on consumer and retail businesses
• Conduct channel checks and primary research to identify industry trends and company developments
• Produce written research on earnings, events, industry developments, and themes
• Analyze company financials, competitive positioning, and market dynamics
• Help prepare marketing materials and investor presentations
• Participate in management meetings, conferences, and client-facing events
• Engage with sales, trading, and institutional clients to communicate research insights
