Job summary

City of Gainesville, TX is seeking an Equipment Operator II to operate a range of machinery for streets, water, and sewer work. This full journey level role works under general supervision and can advance from Level II as needed.

Responsibilities include street repairs, concrete work, equipment maintenance, records, and safety. A valid driver's license is required, and CDL may be needed within six months. Must work in demanding conditions and lift heavy loads.

Qualifications

• Three years of construction or related field experience.
• Two years of experience at Equipment Operator II level.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to obtain Class A or B CDL within six months when requested.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and repair a variety of machinery and equipment.
• Participate in street repairs and patching; prepare holes and patch surfaces.
• Assist in laying bricks and using tar pots; build fences as assigned.
• Trim foliage obstructing traffic signs; maintain areas around streets.
• Mix, pour and finish concrete.
• Clear storm drains of debris.
• Haul asphalt, sand and gravel to work sites.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas; repair tires.
• Maintain service and repair records for division machinery.
