Job summary

City of Gainesville seeks a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to support the transfer station and waste operations. You will operate a range of machinery, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safe collection and disposal of solid waste in a demanding outdoor environment.

Two years of equipment operation experience and a high school diploma or GED are required. A CDL Class A/B or ability to obtain one within 30 days is necessary, with MSW licensing as applicable.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience operating equipment, solid waste collection experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Load refuse at transfer station and offload at landfills as assigned.
• Operate refuse collection vehicle on assigned route and supervise staff.
• Maintain transfer station and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Complete documentation and safety checks daily; report unsafe conditions.
