Job summary

The City of Fairhope is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator III to perform heavy equipment operation and maintenance across city streets, ROW, and utilities. You will receive tasks from a supervisor, supervise crew members as needed, and ensure safety standards.

This role requires at least eight years of heavy equipment experience, a valid Class A CDL, and the ability to work on-call, travel and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Eight (8) years of experience operating heavy equipment in road construction/maintenance.
• Current Class A CDL; must be insurable.
• Ability to work on-call rotation, overtime, weekends, or emergencies.
• Ability to travel throughout the City to perform job functions.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment across city streets, utilities, and ROW.
• Perform pre-work safety inspections and daily/monthly maintenance checks.
• Train others on complex equipment as needed and serve as crew leader on projects.
• Assist with road and ROW repair, storms, and emergencies.
• Ensure safety standards and proper signage on worksites.
