Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer to support our Lowell and Lawrence, MA teams.

The role involves repairing, upgrading, and maintaining wafer fabrication equipment, selecting cost-effective equipment, and studying performance to reduce downtime. You will partner with Equipment Engineers and Technicians, monitor installations, propose budgets, and ensure safety and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
• 2-5 years of engineering experience, preferably in equipment design, maintenance, or manufacturing.
• Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment is preferred.
• Proficiency in engineering software and tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks, and simulation software.
• Knowledge of equipment design principles, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to equipment safety and performance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Repair, upgrade, and maintain wafer fabrication equipment.
• Select, order, and expedite equipment and parts for maintenance.
• Study equipment performance and establish programs to reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with process engineers to optimize equipment settings for yield and quality.
• Develop preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to extend equipment life.
• Provide technical support and training to production staff on equipment operation and maintenance.
