Job summary

Midrex is seeking a Senior Equipment Engineer in Charlotte, NC to specify, design, troubleshoot, and pursue continuous improvements for Direct Reduced Iron plant equipment. You will act as a discipline lead, guiding engineers and designers, reviewing vendor documents, and coordinating with clients and consultants.

The role requires a strong mechanical engineering background, ASME knowledge, and extensive field experience with industrial equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related field.
• Minimum 10 years in an industrial/technical environment; steel industry preferred.
• Experience as a discipline lead on Midrex projects.

Responsibilities

• Specify, design, troubleshoot, and seek opportunities for continuous improvement of proprietary equipment.
• Lead the mechanical equipment design effort for projects; direct engineers and designers.
• Review drawings, calculations, and vendor submittals for conformance with specs.
• Coordinate interfaces with outside consultants and clients; manage schedules and budgets.
• Travel to fabrication facilities and project sites for inspections and data collection.
• Mentor engineers and designers; provide technical advisory services for field activities.
• Prepare specifications, requisitions, QA docs, and operation manuals.
