Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks an Electrical Power Monitoring System Engineer (EPMS) to lead and optimize critical data center infrastructure in the Ashburn, VA area. You will oversee electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems, coordinate with teams and vendors, and ensure system reliability and performance.

The role requires 7+ years in large data center environments, hands-on EPMS/BMS experience, and a bachelor’s in engineering.

Qualifications

• 7+ years operating large-scale data center environments in a technical lead or senior role.
• Deep understanding of HVAC, electrical switchgear, generators, UPS, PDU, RPP, batteries.
• Experience with design, engineering, commissioning, and operation of data center systems.
• Knowledge of data center tier ratings, resiliency planning, and availability risks.
• Ability to review drawings and specs for conformance to standards and requirements.
• Experience with EPMS and BMS systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field; certifications (NFPA, ATS, ATO, AOS, DCDC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead operation, maintenance, and optimization of critical data center systems.
• Support facility projects through design reviews, commissioning, and readiness assessments.
• Review drawings and installation plans to ensure compliance with standards.
• Utilize EPMS and BMS to monitor and maintain facility performance.
• Coordinate with teams and vendors to perform preventive maintenance and drive improvements.
