Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an Electrical Power Monitoring System Engineer (EPMS) to lead operation and optimization of mission-critical data center infrastructure in Ashburn, Virginia. This on-site role requires expert knowledge of EPMS/BMS and a strong background in electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.

The Data Center Facilities Technical Lead will drive reliability, resiliency, and performance through project design reviews, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance,

Qualifications

• 7+ years leading large data center operations or equivalent senior role.
• Deep knowledge of chillers, chilled water, air handlers, HVAC, electrical switchgear, generators, UPS, PDU, and battery systems.
• Experience designing, engineering, commissioning, and operating data center electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
• Familiarity with data center tier ratings, resiliency planning, and availability risk.
• Experience reviewing drawings/specs to ensure install alignment with standards.
• Proficiency with EPMS and BMS systems.
• Strong communication skills; degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead operation, maintenance, and optimization of critical data center electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.
• Support facility projects through design review, evaluations, commissioning, and readiness assessments.
• Review drawings and installation plans to ensure industry-standard compliance.
• Utilize EPMS and BMS to monitor and maintain facility performance.
• Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to perform preventive maintenance and drive improvements.
