Job summary

Dept of State Health Services in Texas is seeking an Epidemiologist III to perform advanced epidemiology work in sickle cell disease data collection, management, and research. You will coordinate data collection for the Texas Sickle Cell Data Collection Program, maintain a data repository, and prepare IRB-approved data requests.

The role requires coordinating with external partners, guiding data analysis with SAS and other tools, and leading a cross-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with major coursework in public health, epidemiology, chronic disease, biostatistics, or a related field.
• Experience in public health research, surveillance, and knowledge translation.
• Experience in complex data linkages and stakeholder engagement preferred.
• Ability to lead program activities and work independently.
• Experience with IRB processes and data sharing agreements is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains IRBs/DUAs for data sharing.
• Coordinates data collection for the Texas Sickle Cell Data Collection Program.
• Prepares aggregate data reports for CDC submittal.
• Interprets surveillance data using epidemiology and biostatistics.
• Leads the SCDC multidisciplinary team and stakeholder site visits.
• Develops dissemination plans and dashboards for results.
