Job summary

Cytel in Raleigh, NC seeks Associate Director, Epidemiological Statistical Programming to lead senior-level programming for epidemiology and real-world evidence studies, providing technical guidance and mentorship while delivering high‑quality analyses.

You will develop SAS/R programs, collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and data scientists, oversee CROs, drive standards, and help scale automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
• 8+ years of relevant statistical programming experience within pharma/biotech/CRO/healthcare with epidemiology/RWE work.
• Experience with Optum and Truveta.
• Advanced programming in SAS and/or R, with reproducible workflows.
• Experience with large and complex healthcare data sources.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and functional leadership to statistical programmers supporting epidemiological and real-world studies, mentoring team members and promoting best practices.
• Lead hands-on statistical programming activities for epidemiological studies across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Develop, validate, and maintain SAS and/or R programs for analysis datasets, outputs, and figures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to determine programming approaches and ensure accurate analyses.
• Oversee and review programming deliverables for quality and timelines.
• Support programming activities using real-world data sources (claims, EHR, registries).
• Develop analysis-ready datasets, transformations, and QC procedures.
