Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Linthicum, MD, is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join the Advanced EOIR team. You will develop EO/IR sensor concepts, implement cutting-edge algorithms, and evaluate performance using high-fidelity models.

The role requires experience with airborne/space EOIR sensors, strong algorithm development, and leadership of R&D programs; require Secret clearance and eligibility for SAP access.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, master's with 3 years or Ph.D. with 1 year.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance and ability to obtain SAP access.
• Experience in Python or MATLAB and EOIR sensors.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test, and deploy EOIR‑centric algorithms.
• Build and maintain physics‑based sensor models.
• Develop and quantify performance metrics for system performance.
• Understand data quality and artifact impacts.
• Represent system performance in functional and analytical models.
• Lead technical execution of R&D programs in coordination with the algorithm architect.
