Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Chandler, AZ seeks a Staff Electro‑Optical Engineer (Level 5) to join the Integration and Test team in Launch Systems. The role is 100% on‑site in Chandler, with no relocation assistance.

You will lead EO/IR testing, develop procedures, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety and producibility across space hardware. The candidate should have 12+ years in EE (or 10+ with MS), experience with EO/IR systems, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 12+ years with a BS or 10+ with an MS in Electrical Engineering or a qualifying discipline.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
• Experience with EO/IR systems and imaging optics at a systems level.
• Experience with cleanroom operations ISO‑6, ISO‑7.
• Hands-on electrical testing and diagnostic experience.
• Familiarity with Space Environment test requirements (thermal vacuum, vibration, etc.).
• Experience with aerospace standards and documenting hardware discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technical understanding of seeker systems to address customer scope requirements.
• Lead hands-on electrical testing of EO/IR systems at a systems level.
• Develop and maintain EO/IR assembly and test procedures for launch vehicle systems.
• Incorporate hardware/software design changes and disposition discrepancies.
• Coordinate day-to-day I&T activities across engineering disciplines and lead status meetings.
• Mentor and train junior engineers; transfer knowledge to I&T staff.
• Ensure producibility/testability concepts in early design phases.
• Oversee I&T bay and cleanroom activities to meet safety standards.
