Position Overview
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer (Level 5) to serve on the Integration and Test team in Launch Systems at our Chandler, AZ facility. This 100% on‑site role requires a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
- Lead, direct, and perform hands‑on electrical testing at the systems level.
- Develop and maintain procedures for the assembly and test of launch vehicle systems.
- Incorporate hardware and/or software design changes into test plans.
- Document and disposition hardware discrepancies, pursue root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Coordinate and schedule day‑to‑day integration and test activities across engineering disciplines, and lead and participate in daily status meetings.
- Lead, train, and task cross‑functional engineers and team members, and transfer knowledge to less experienced I&T engineers.
- Assert producibility and testability concepts into early design phases.
- Oversee all I&T bay and cleanroom activities to ensure compliance with safety standards, Launch Systems procedures, processes, and command media.
- Ensure special test equipment is maintained, calibrated, and ready for use.
Basic Qualifications
- 12 years of experience with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; 10 years with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
- Experience with cleanroom operations (ISO‑6, ISO‑7).
- Hands‑on electrical testing and diagnostic experience.
- Understanding of Space Environment test requirements – thermal vacuum, cycle testing, vibration and shock testing, etc.
- Experience working with operational hazards such as propulsive devices, pressurized systems, overhead lifting, high‑voltage systems, and laser systems.
- Experience with aerospace standards and guidelines.
- Experience in documenting and dispositioning hardware discrepancies and in pursuing root‑cause and corrective actions.
- Ability to innovate and lead digital transformation efforts; experience with MES or other digital work‑instruction platforms.
- Experience leading and training junior engineers and/or team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active U.S. Government security clearance of Secret or above.
- Former or current EE lead on space launch vehicle programs or similar programs.
- Extensive experience with Space Environment test requirements and operational hazards as listed above.
- Experience with aerospace standards/guidelines and formal requirements decomposition or verification.
- Experience in external customer interfacing, including meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
- Experience with MES or other digital work instruction platforms.
Additional Information
- Travel expectation: 10–20%.
- Schedule: 9/80 (9 hours per day Mon–Thurs, 8 hours every other Friday with alternate Friday off).
- Primary salary range: $152,900.00 – $229,300.00.
