Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Chandler, AZ is seeking an Optical Subsystem I&T Engineer to support the EO Group within Launch Vehicles, assisting in integration and testing of EO hardware with senior engineers.

The position requires a DoD Secret clearance eligibility, a relevant engineering degree, hands-on lab experience, and strong collaboration and communication skills; relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance at time of application.
• Familiarity with optical or electro-optical systems handling and lab/test methodologies.
• Knowledge of lab safety protocols including laser and electrical safety.
• Experience maintaining or organizing laboratory spaces and inventory.
• Interest in hands-on integration and testing of complex hardware.
• Good organization, communication, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Support the integration and testing of electro-optical subsystems (EO) including setup and test execution under supervision.
• Assist in developing and reviewing test plans based on system requirements and design documentation.
• Execute test activities, collect data, and contribute to analysis to verify performance.
• Maintain, calibrate, and prepare optical test equipment and lab environments.
• Document results and prepare test reports for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, design teams, and program management to meet milestones.
• Follow safety and government standards for lab activities.
• Participate in team meetings and training to grow skills.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
