Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a full-time Senior Environmental Specialist to help clients navigate NEPA compliance and environmental due diligence across transportation, renewables, power and water sectors. This role may be based in Minnesota or Iowa offices or remote in the Midwest.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage field efforts, coordinate with agencies, prepare reports, and help grow Ulteig''s client base. Travel is occasional; strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s or advanced degree in environmental science or related field required.
• 15+ years of related experience (advanced degree may count toward experience).
• Thorough understanding of and experience with NEPA, ESA, CWA, CAA, NHPA, CERCLA, RCRA as they relate to environmental review and permitting.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Time-management, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; build cross-disciplinary relationships.
• Proficient with MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, ArcGIS Pro, and Field Maps.
• Willing to travel occasionally with overnight stays.
• Authorized to work permanently in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, organize, and direct multi-disciplinary teams for preparing reports and environmental permit applications (e.g., NEPA documents, wetland delineation reports, biological assessments).
• Provide oversight and interpretation of data for investigations, mitigation, or monitoring projects.
• Lead and organize team for project field efforts (wildlife, botanical, water).
• Communicate scientific and technical information to project team.
• Prepare and review environmental reports and related materials.
• Assist clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and compliance.
• Develop lasting professional relationships with clients through quality support.
• Engage new clients through networking, marketing, and customer service.
