Job summary

CapstoneONE Search is representing a rapidly growing, non-union industrial manufacturer in Michigan seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist. You will lead environmental compliance activities across wastewater, stormwater, chemical management, waste disposal, and regulatory reporting, reporting to the Site EHS Director and partnering with Operations and Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in environmental field.
• 2+ years of environmental experience in manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Experience supporting health and safety programs alongside environmental compliance.
• Knowledge of federal, state, local environmental regulations (RCRA, CWA, CAA) and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance activities across wastewater, storm water, hazardous waste handling, and emissions.
• Maintain records, permits, and regulatory filings to meet requirements.
• Prepare regulatory reports and submissions (air emissions, TRI, Tier II where applicable).
• Coordinate with Operations and Engineering to improve environmental performance.
• Conduct internal audits to identify gaps and drive corrective actions.

Job description

We are representing a rapidly growing (non-union) industrial manufacturing organization who is actively seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist. Reporting to the Site EHS Director, this Senor Environmental Specialist will be responsible for environmental compliance activities. POSITION OVERVIEW

• Lead and support environmental compliance activities related to wastewater, storm water, chemical management, waste disposal, recycling, permitting, and regulatory reporting
• Maintain accurate environmental records, reports, permits, and compliance documentation in accordance with federal, state, local, and internal requirements
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings, including air emissions inventories, hazardous waste manifests, SPCC/SWPPP plans, TRI, and Tier II reporting
• Evaluate production, process, equipment, and operational changes to ensure environmental requirements are maintained or improved
• Conduct internal environmental audits and inspections to identify compliance gaps and drive corrective actions
• Oversee wastewater pretreatment, storm water management, and spill prevention/response programs
• Track and report environmental KPIs and metrics to plant and corporate leadership
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and plant leadership to promote accountability, communication, and a proactive EHS culture across the facility

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering/Technology, EHS, or related field.
• 2+ years of environmental experience within a manufacturing and industrial environment
• Experience supporting health and safety programs in addition to environmental compliance activities
• Working knowledge of environmental compliance programs, permitting, reporting, recordkeeping, and regulatory requirements (RCRA, CWA, CAA); TRI and Tier II experience preferred
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations, with strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional leadership skills
