Job summary

Community Health Systems seeks an Environmental Services Worker III to perform advanced cleaning, sanitation, and facility maintenance for a safe hospital environment. You will lead floor care operations, manage waste, and assist with infection control and compliance across departments.

The role includes mentoring new staff, supporting complex cleaning projects, and ensuring adherence to OSHA/EPA guidelines within an evening shift schedule at a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or healthcare facility maintenance required.
• Experience in terminal cleaning, waste management, and advanced floor care techniques in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced floor care, including stripping, waxing, buffing, deep-cleaning carpets, and operating floor maintenance equipment.
• Handles the removal, segregation, and proper disposal of hazardous, infectious, and noninfectious waste, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and hospital policies.
• Executes terminal cleaning and disinfection procedures in high-risk areas such as operating rooms, isolation units, and intensive care areas.
• Trains and mentors new Environmental Services team members, ensuring adherence to proper cleaning techniques, infection control protocols, and safety procedures.
• Assists with special projects, such as construction cleanup, deep cleaning initiatives, and emergency response cleaning efforts.
• Moves, assembles, and adjusts furniture, medical equipment, and floor mats to support department operations and facility needs.
• Monitors and replenishes cleaning supplies, reporting inventory shortages and ensuring proper usage to minimize waste.
• Identifies and reports maintenance and safety concerns, such as damaged flooring, leaks, or malfunctioning equipment, ensuring a prompt response.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
