Job summary

SoCalGas is seeking an Environmental Science Senior II to lead environmental studies and navigate regulatory permitting for major projects. The role involves CEQA/NEPA coordination, field work, and interdisciplinary collaboration with project managers, regulators, and the public.

You will oversee environmental compliance planning, data analysis, and reporting while advocating for cost-effective strategies that minimize disruption to project timelines.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 8 years of related experience.
• Ability to lead complex environmental projects and engage regulators.

Responsibilities

• Act as the environmental lead and coordinate studies, review documents, and implement compliance measures & training.
• Provide technical leadership for environmental documents, including CEQA/NEPA, permit applications, and deliverables.
• Coordinate field activities, including construction compliance monitoring and environmental inspections; prepare permitting schedules and communicate with stakeholders.
• Executes programs to ensure regulatory obligations are met while optimizing costs and minimizing disruptions.
• Provides technical expertise in GIS data for spatial analysis and visualization, adhering to industry standards.
• Monitors day-to-day environmental compliance programs including waste management and spill planning.
• Reviews environmental record keeping and reporting including data review, report preparation, and agency input.
• Leads development of environmental processes, procedures and training.
