Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to lead Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and remediation projects, mentoring junior staff and serving as a key technical resource on Illinois EPA SRP and LUST programs. This role blends field and office work across residential, solar, and commercial sites in Illinois.

You will oversee Phase I ESAs from planning through final reporting, supervise junior staff, coordinate with clients, and contribute to project oversight and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in environmental field.
• 10+ years in environmental remediation and due diligence, Phase I focus.
• Proven Phase I ESA experience with fieldwork and reporting.
• Experience with Phase II ESAs, soil sampling and data evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Lead Phase I ESA projects from planning to final reports.
• Oversee junior staff and review technical reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Mentor 13 junior team members and support their professional development.
• Communicate with clients throughout the project lifecycle and address questions.
• Assist with Phase II ESAs, including soil sampling and data interpretation.
• Guide remediation activities and construction oversight.
• Apply Illinois EPA SRP/LUST knowledge to guide regulatory processes.
• Keep stakeholders informed on project status and risks.
• Manage 45+ concurrent projects, balancing schedules and deliverables.
• Prepare technical reports and due diligence documentation for various sites.
• Review environmental reports and provide constructive feedback.
