Ascendancy Recruiting is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist in New Mexico to assist the Environmental Manager with compliance and permitting duties. The role focuses on inspections for air, water and waste, disposal management, and implementation of best practices for regulatory compliance.

The candidate should have 5+ years in environmental roles, a related bachelor’s degree, a valid driver’s license, and strong data interpretation skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in environmental roles with regulatory exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific data.
• Experience with NM BLM and Environmental Department preferred.
• Proven mining or heavy industry environment experience.
• Strong communication to management and hourly workforce.
• Experience with federal, state and local environmental permitting.

Responsibilities

• Lead air, water and waste management compliance inspections.
• Manage and arrange disposal of universal and hazardous wastes.
• Assist operations with best practice controls for compliance.
• Develop professional relationships with regulatory personnel.
• Oversee compilation of environmental data for management and agencies.
• Maintain and submit permit-related records.
• Oversee permit documents preparation and review.
• Lead environmental projects (groundwater sampling, stack testing).
• Project management and contractor oversight.
• Environmental lead for continuous improvement initiatives.
