Job summary

RTX Corporation in Tucson, AZ seeks a seasoned Environmental Qualification Test Engineer to lead and execute complex environmental qualification programs for defense systems. You will coordinate with design teams, labs, and program management, ensuring compliance with MIL-STD-810 and related standards.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, planning, and data interpretation, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and refine verification methodologies in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
• Minimum five (5) years of technical/engineering experience.
• Experience with environmental qualification requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-810).
• Experience leading test activities including vibration, thermal, and E3 (EMI/EMC, lightning, grounding).
• Experience with test instrumentation and data acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, coordination, and execution of environmental qualification tests (vibration, shock, temperature, humidity, altitude, E3).
• Develop test plans, procedures, and reports per military/industry requirements.
• Interface with engineering, test labs, systems engineering, and management for qualification matters.
• Review requirements and ensure allocation, verification methods, and test coverage.
• Generate configurations, setups, and instrumentation plans; ensure compliance.
• Lead Test Readiness Reviews and ensure configuration control and safety.
• Manage test anomalies, perform root-cause analysis, coordinate troubleshooting, drive corrective actions.
• Interpret data and document results for customer delivery.
• Provide guidance on qualification strategy and compliance approaches.
• Support risk management, scheduling, cost estimates, and resource planning.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
