SUMMARY:

DAWSON is seeking a senior-level Environmental Project Manager to support our growing conservation and planning team that is interested in participating in a variety of projects across DAWSON�s services throughout the country. This PM will work on detailed and routine environmental assignments across a range of project activities including: the development of environmental impact statements (EISs), environmental assessments (EAs), and categorical exclusions (CATEXes) in support of NEPA; participation in public involvement; supervision of field and geospatial data collection, processing, and analysis; and scientific and technical report management. The ideal candidate will work closely with Program Managers to provide project management duties, develop and maintain client relationships, and support business development. Experience with large NEPA projects, environmental planning, and community outreach is essential. Established industry presence is preferred, including a willingness to pursue business opportunities for new and existing clients. Duties may include project management, business development, data analysis, scientific and technical report preparation, public involvement, field operations, proposal preparation, and training of junior staff. The position may be based in Washington, DC; Denver, Colorado; Charlotte, North Carolina; San Antonio, TX; and Honolulu, HI. There is also the potential for this to be a telework position for the right candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide professional support to Program Managers in customer interface and client relations instrumental in executing project requirements.
  • Run a team to manage and complete complex project deliverables, including EISs.
  • Create, track, and report project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Manage project submittals including meeting minutes, monthly progress reports, work plans, and project reports.
  • Develop and maintain vendor and subcontractor relationships and assist with Contracts/Procurement to support project execution.
  • Work with Project Delivery Teams and Project Controls to document client- or project-specific financial reporting including managing purchase order requests and distributions.
  • Track project financials and identifying risks.
  • Manage deliverables ensuring compliance with project requirements and submittal deadlines.
  • Execute and manage task orders while maintaining cost and schedule.
  • Gather and correlate environmental data, which may include research; organize public comment database; review responses to public comments; conduct surveys for listed species; participate in interviews government agencies and clients.
  • Work on routine environmental assignments involving NEPA compliance, planning, public involvement, and database management projects.
  • Lead preparation for and participation in client meetings, public information meetings, and hearings.
  • Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and compliance.
  • Communicate with variety of stakeholders, subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field. MS preferred.
  • 15 to 20 years executing environmental tasks for geographically dispersed environmental investigations under NEPA, CERCLA, RCRA, CAA, and/or CWA
  • Current OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training (CFR 1910.120)
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations including but not limited to the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, NEPA, and applicable state and local environmental regulations.
  • Experience managing/coordinating large NEPA projects across the country preferred.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Detail-oriented with hands-on trouble-shooting/problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently as well as with supervision.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be capable of accessing government properties based upon a background check.

Travel Requirements: Periodic business travel is required and is expected about 10-25% of the year: overnight travel is required. Travel is anticipated to consist of field work at project sites, client visits, and work at partner offices across the United States. The position may involve outdoor fieldwork at sites across the United States. Fieldwork may require candidate to walk over uneven terrain up to 8 hours a day and carry heavy equipment. Candidates are subject to �fit for duty� baseline physical and subject to medical monitoring protocols.
