Job summary

State of Delaware’s Division of Air Quality seeks a supervisor to manage air quality planning, policy development and regulatory implementation. The position directs 6 technical staff and collaborates regionally and nationally to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across sectors including power, transportation, industrial, and residential-commercial-institutional.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field, several years in data analysis and regulatory interpretation, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in biology, chemistry, geology, physics, engineering, environmental science or related field.
• Six months experience in environmental/natural resources program administration including development and evaluation of programs and funding.
• Three years experience in analyzing and evaluating data.
• Three years experience interpreting environmental laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
• Six months experience in staff supervision including planning, assigning, reviewing and evaluating work.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and oversees program implementation.
• Provides technical direction and oversight for subordinates.
• Recommends and drafts laws, rules and regulations for assigned areas.
• Drafts grant applications and budget proposals; participates in specialized fiscal activities.
• Manages staff personnel matters including training, performance evaluation and hiring.
