Job summary

HDR, a global engineering and professional services firm, seeks a Senior Environmental Planner in Los Angeles to lead CEQA and NEPA document efforts across diverse projects. You will supervise staff, ensure quality through proactive management, and mentor team members to integrate technical work with client needs.

You will also help drive business development, foster a safety-first culture, and contribute to HDR's goals in California markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or closely related field.
• Ten or more years of environmental planning experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Experience with CEQA/NEPA document preparation.
• Experience with California markets and consulting industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare CEQA and NEPA documents for diverse projects.
• Supervise sector staff and manage performance and profitability.
• Track staffing actions and support recruiting/training.
• Lead quality control and project management processes.
• Mentor staff to bridge technical and client needs.
• Support business development and marketing efforts.
• Promote safety- and quality-focused culture within the sector.
• Represent the firm at professional organizations and events.
• Ensure policy interpretation and enforcement across the team.
• Perform other duties as needed.
