Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Project Manager and Senior Environmental Permitter in Massachusetts to lead regulatory permitting efforts, manage projects and clients, and support business development. The role focuses on coastal resilience planning, waterfront permitting, and coordinating with resource agencies to deliver compliant, timely outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in environmental permitting, strong communication skills, and experience with MEPA, Wetlands, and the Clean Water Act.

Qualifications

• Experience with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting in Massachusetts.
• Experience with waterfront and in-water permitting for climate resiliency projects and infrastructure in Boston.
• Knowledge of MEPA, Wetlands Act, 401/404/408 Clean Water Act sections.
• Ability to present information in public settings and to coordinate with commissions and meetings.
• 10+ years of project management and permitting experience preferred.
• Experience with proposals, bids, and tendering processes.
• Hands-on experience managing permitting applications from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Identify project-specific regulatory requirements and coordinate with agencies.
• Develop and review environmental permit applications (federal, state, local).
• Lead writing and review of technical reports and documentation.
• Manage proposals, budgets, and project teams.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Present at public meetings and lead field work when needed.
• Support business development and maintain client relations.
