Job summary

SB Energy, a SoftBank Group and Ares Infrastructure backed leader in energy and data center infrastructure, seeks an Environmental & Permitting Senior Manager for discretionary land use and environmental permits across the US. The role demands strong regulatory expertise and cross-functional collaboration to advance large-scale projects.

You will oversee diverse permitting activities, coordinate with Development, Engineering, and Finance teams, and travel nationwide as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, land use planning, ecology, geography, or another relevant field.
• 8–12+ years of professional experience.
• 5+ years in supporting environmental compliance and permitting in the US for energy generation, energy storage, and/or data center projects.
• Strong understanding of environmental laws and permitting processes across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience obtaining discretionary land use permits and authorizations.
• Experience securing federal approvals.
• Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee local, state, and federal permitting processes for energy projects.
• Prepare and evaluate environmental surveys, land use applications, EIRs, and related reports.
• Develop permitting strategies considering existing permits and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with Development, Origination, Engineering, Transmission/Interconnection, and other teams.
• Identify and oversee external consultants and contracts; ensure high-quality output.
• Support project financing activities.
• Develop project schedules and budgets; travel up to 30%.
