Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Environmental & Permitting Consultant for our Shelton, CT office (or nearby Orange, CT). The role focuses on regulatory compliance for utility projects, coordinating with CTDEEP and other agencies to ensure permitting and reporting requirements are met.

The Lead Consultant will manage spill response, waste handling, and environmental risk with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in environmental compliance, a bachelor’s degree in an environmental

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an environmental field is required.
• Experience with local, state and federal permits and regulations.
• Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
• Experience managing environmental compliance for construction projects.
• Familiarity with CTDEEP regulations and RBCRs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support CT Siting Council applications, reporting requirements and conditions.
• Oversee construction and ensure permit compliance.
• Review engineering drawings, reports, and permit applications.
• Communicate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
• Prepare RFP packages and support that process.
• Provide written comments on regulatory changes.
• Coordinate spill response and hazardous waste management.
• Ensure environmental reporting and risk mitigation across projects.
