Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Environmental & Permitting Consultant in Connecticut (Shelton or Orange) to lead regulatory oversight for utility projects. The role involves coordinating with CT regulators and stakeholders to ensure robust, compliant spill response, waste management, and environmental reporting throughout project lifecycles.

The candidate will work with project managers, engineers, and field staff to ensure all environmental permitting and compliance requirements are met, including

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of environmental compliance field experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in an environmental related major.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal permits and regulations.
  • Experience with contaminated environmental media (soil & groundwater).
  • Construction and/or remediation oversight experience.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Good understanding of regulatory affairs.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance for construction projects.
  • Familiarity with CTDEEP permits and RBCRs.

Responsibilities

  • Support CT Siting Council applications, reporting requirements and conditions.
  • Oversee construction and ensure compliance with permits.
  • Review engineering drawings, reports, plans and permit applications.
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Prepare Request for Proposal packages and support that process.
  • Provide written comments regarding regulatory changes.
  • SPCC support and waste management tasks.
  • RCRA hazardous and non-hazardous waste management support.
  • Contract management and project invoicing review.
  • Construction field oversight of material management and permit compliance.
  • Stay updated with the latest CTDEEP regulations (RBCRs).
