Job summary

ERM in Milwaukee, WI seeks a Senior Consultant, Scientist, Permitting and Compliance to manage environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance for energy projects across North America. The role requires leading project teams, preparing siting and permit applications, and coordinating with federal, state and local authorities.

Candidates should have 3+ years in environmental impact assessment and strong writing and communication skills, with proficiency in MS Office and GIS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental studies, planning, geography, civil or environmental engineering or related natural resources science field of study.
• 3+ years of environmental impact assessment, siting, and permitting experience on energy projects, including consulting for private-sector clients.
• Working knowledge of NEPA, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act regulations.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Experience with GIS, map interpretation and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Support projects on time and on budget including scope, budgeting, resourcing, and risk management.
• Contribute to technical proposals and maintain client relationships for repeat business.
• Review plans to assess environmental impact and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with siting and permit applications at federal, state, and local levels.
• Prepare technical documents and data analyses.
• Collaborate with ERM practitioners on impact assessment and permitting.
• Prepare environmental plans (erosion control, SWPPP, site restoration, spill prevention).
• Ensure compliance with project-specific environmental regulations and QA/QC.
