Job summary

Earthjustice seeks a collaborative and experienced litigator to join our enforcement group as a Senior Attorney. This hybrid role focuses on developing and litigating federal enforcement cases to protect environmental laws across the United States.

The Senior Attorney reports to the Director of Enforcement, helps shape strategy, mentors staff, and leads enforcement efforts with a team of experts. Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

• JD required with admission to practice law where located or willingness to seek admission.
• Minimum eight years of experience litigating complex matters, including e‑discovery and trial.
• Background in federal environmental enforcement litigation preferred.
• Ability to develop cases, manage a docket, and lead a litigation team.
• Strong written and oral communication, research, and analytical skills.
• Experience mentoring and training others; ability to build coalitions.

Responsibilities

• Case development and litigation: lead enforcement cases and manage discovery, motions, and trial tasks.
• Build enforcement infrastructure: strategic planning, resources, metrics, and training.
• External engagement: collaborate with partners, media, and thought leaders to advance goals.
