Job summary

The Southern Environmental Law Center seeks a Litigation Strategy Director, a senior leader responsible for strategy, standards, and professional development that keep SELC’s litigation among the best in the country. This exempt, full-time role offers hybrid work across listed offices and relocation support.

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, you will provide institution-wide leadership on litigation strategy, supervise attorneys, and coordinate with national and regional partners to

Qualifications

• Ten or more years of litigation experience, including substantial first-chair responsibility in complex civil litigation, through trial and appeal.
• Active license to practice law, or willingness to seek admission, in one of SELC’s states or Washington, D.C.
• Strong command of administrative law, civil procedure, remedies, and professional responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Chief Program Officer and leaders to integrate litigation into program plans and coordinated advocacy across offices.
• Serve as principal advisor on litigation strategy and lead significant filings and hearings.
• Approve major litigation decisions and oversee approvals and updates to the Board; guide test case development.
