Job summary

The Southern Environmental Law Center seeks a Litigation Strategy Director to lead strategy, standards, and professional development ensuring top-tier litigation practice across SELC. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, this role collaborates with senior leaders to elevate litigation planning, ethics, and resource deployment while guiding a team of attorneys toward excellence.

The director oversees strategy development, approves critical decisions, and mentors litigators to enhance judgment

Qualifications

• 10+ years of litigation experience, including substantial first-chair responsibility in complex civil litigation.
• Active license to practice law in SELC's states or Washington, DC.
• Strong knowledge of civil procedure, administrative law, and professional responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to make litigation central to program plans and advocacy.
• Advise on litigation strategy, strengthen significant filings, and prepare for key proceedings.
• Approve major litigation decisions and oversee approvals and updates to the Board.
