Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Technical Lead for Environmental Remediation in Chicago to provide technical leadership on complex site investigation, remediation, and regulatory compliance across Illinois and the Midwest.

The role requires deep knowledge of Illinois EPA SRP and TACO, mentoring staff, and guiding project teams while engaging with regulators and clients, with a focus on quality deliverables and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible environmental consulting, remediation, and regulatory compliance experience.
• 2 years of leadership experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Background check and motor vehicle records check required.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigations and remediation projects involving soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapor.
• Prepare and review reports under Illinois EPA SRP and TACO programs (CSIs, RORs, RAPs, RACRs, NFR).
• Develop remediation strategies and evaluate remedial technologies.
• Provide QA/QC of technical reports and regulatory correspondence.
• Interface with Illinois EPA project managers and reviewers.
• Support project managers with scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and technical approaches.
• Lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders; mentor junior staff; support proposals.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, scientists, and subcontractors.
