Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Professional Geologist to lead environmental compliance programs across Hawthorne, CA sites and support manufacturing programs including Falcon/Dragon, Raptor/Starship, and Starlink initiatives.

The candidate will own SMP development, oversee monitoring and sampling, manage hazardous waste programs, and ensure regulatory alignment with DTSC, CUPA, EPA and local agencies. Strong collaboration with engineers and operations is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and California Licensed Professional Geologist.
• 5+ years of professional experience in environmental and regulatory compliance in manufacturing or construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, improve, and maintain environmental compliance programs at SpaceX sites.
• Oversee day-to-day environmental site management for manufacturing and construction projects.
• Lead SMP development and coordinate with DTSC and other agencies.
• Monitor and sample VOCs, methane, and other environmental metrics as required.
• Handle hazardous waste sampling, profiling, and disposal.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with DTSC, CUPA, EPA and local agencies.
• Track and interpret new environmental regulations; provide guidance to management.
• Maintain compliance calendars and environmental tracking software.
• Coordinate and manage permitting, testing, and assessment contractors.
• Assist in facility changes to meet regulatory and permitting requirements.
• Allocate resources to environmental requirements for SMP implementation.
• Build relationships with regulators and cross-functional teams.
