Job summary

CDM Smith Inc. seeks an engineer to design water and wastewater facilities, pipelines, and remediation sites under light supervision. You will review designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and perform site reviews to align with location specifications.

Travel may be required to support project needs and client engagements. Strong CAD/modeled design skills and MS Office proficiency are essential, along with clear communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Under light supervision, creates basic to moderate complexity water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, solid waste facilities, etc.
• Engineering designs to meet client project requirements.
• Reviews draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Performs site reviews and studies to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
• Updates design requirements as necessary.
• Performs water quality analyses and modeling.
• Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
• Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• Attends conferences, symposia, etc.
• Improves the visibility of the firm's products and services with sales staff.
• Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff.
• Reviews the work of more junior staff.
