Job Description

This position is for a Senior Environmental Engineer based in South Carolina to assist in the delivery of water treatment facilities of moderate to high complexity throughout the Southeast United States. In this role you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead teams to design and deliver water treatment facilities and related water infrastructure, including process modeling through signing and sealing construction drawings as the engineer‑of‑record.
  • Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sign off on completed designs.
  • Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
  • Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications and update design requirements as necessary.
  • Perform water quality analyses and modeling.
  • Contribute to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc., and submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
  • Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs); review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations, and best practices.
  • Proactively meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.
  • Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm’s products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
  • Act as a point of contact for external client and related industry contact.
  • Collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to project management as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff and mentor them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • Ten years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required; the frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Driving Requirements

An appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.

Skills & Abilities
  • Expert knowledge of computer‑assisted design and drafting (CAD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
Amount of Travel Required

20% – 40%.
