Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required; related experience may substitute for degree.

Responsibilities

  • Create engineering designs for water and wastewater facilities, pipelines, pump stations, and related infrastructure of varying complexity.
  • Review drafts and reports for compliance with regulations and firm policies; sign off on designs.
  • Perform site reviews and studies to ensure design alignment with location specifications.
  • Contribute to Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers, technical design documentation, and submitting papers to journals.
  • Collaborate with sales to craft proposals for client RFPs and ensure adherence to regulations and best practices.
  • Meet with clients to evaluate design needs and promote firm products and services.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentor engineers for growth.
  • Supervise junior engineers on project assignments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job description

The Project Technical Leader (PTL)

The Project Technical Leader role focuses on the technical delivery of projects within the Global Delivery Excellence Framework (GDEF). The PTL works closely with the Project Manager (PM), sharing ownership of the technical vision and reporting directly to the PM. The position may be based out of Raleigh, Charlotte, or Wilmington office.

Responsibilities: The PTL coordinates technical content for design and non‑design projects, applying preemptive, preventive, and proactive approaches to mitigate circle back issues. Key duties include:

  • Creating engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, and similar infrastructure at varying complexity to meet client project requirements.
  • Reviewing draft designs and reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and firm policies; signing off on completed designs.
  • Performing site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications; updating design requirements as necessary.
  • Contributing to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers, technical design documentation, and submitting technical papers to journals.
  • Collaborating with sales staff to craft proposals for current and potential client RFPs; reviewing proposals for adherence to regulations and best practices.
  • Meeting with clients to evaluate their design needs; attending conferences and symposia to promote the firm’s products and services.
  • Providing technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentoring junior engineers for future growth within the discipline and firm.
  • Supervising the work of junior engineers on project assignments as needed.
  • Performing other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required, contingent on duties. Equivalent directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Driving Requirements

An appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.

Skills & Abilities
  • Expert knowledge of computer‑assisted design (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering design principles.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
Amount Of Travel Required

20% – 40%.

Pay Range

Min: USD $105,227.00

Max: USD $184,142.00
