Job summary

WM seeks an experienced environmental engineer to lead projects at solid waste facilities, manage regulatory interfaces, and mentor staff. You will direct engineering and construction efforts, communicate with senior management, and drive compliance and innovation across client portfolios.

You will guide complex tasks from permit preparation to construction oversight, manage budgets, and coordinate with regulators and contractors to ensure timely, compliant project delivery across WM's

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar field with 7 years of experience.
• Experience overseeing landfill construction projects and budgets.
• Strong communication with regulators and senior management.

Responsibilities

• Engages and manages professional firms on permit applications and construction plans.
• Maintains regulator relationships and represents WM in meetings and hearings.
• Manages landfill construction from planning to final approval and contracts.
• Tracks capital budgets and reports to local and corporate management.
• Coordinates capacity tracking and fill sequencing for cell construction.
• Evaluates sites for compliance and expansion potential through site visits.
• Collaborates with WM teams to provide engineering solutions and risk mitigation.
• Participates in acquisitions due diligence and post-merger integration.
• Assists in training and supervision of WM staff.
