Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation seeks an Environmental professional to join a team overseeing site compliance at a Nevada mining operation. The role focuses on managing multiple environmental programs, obtaining state permits, and ensuring activities comply with Kinross policies and regulations while aligning with the company’s safety and performance expectations.

In this role you will coordinate with regulators, provide training, and supervise field staff and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in environmental science or engineering.
• 5+ years experience in environmental programs.
• 5+ years experience managing state or federal permitting projects.
• Preference for Water Pollution Control Permitting and Environmental Management Systems.
• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work as part of a transparent and inclusive team.
• Able to work independently to manage workload and priorities.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Experienced with Microsoft Office programs.
• Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct all activities safely, in accordance with Kinross’ internal policies.
• Ensure compliance with Nevada environmental permits, licenses and regulations.
• Complete permitting actions promptly with information gathering and documentation.
• Develop and maintain rapport with regulators and agencies.
• Communicate with site personnel regarding regulatory obligations.
• Provide environmental awareness training to site employees and contractors.
• Conduct field visits and outdoor projects related to permits.
• Coordinate and supervise environmental staff and contractors.
• Manage budgets, contracts and scopes of work with business partners.
• Comply with company policies including safety, environment and code of conduct.
• Engage with mining associations and Kinross stakeholders.
• Meet performance expectations set by management.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. as part of duties.
• Develop and update environmental documents and reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power BI, and ECESIS.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
