Job summary

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. in San Francisco, CA, seeks a Senior Environmental Engineer to coordinate environmental compliance across multiple California facilities.

This role focuses on air, water, and waste regulations, permits, and internal policies, with hands-on tools, training, and cross-functional collaboration. You will develop and maintain compliance programs, prepare reports and permit applications, lead projects, and interact with regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or science field, chemical engineering preferred.
• Advanced degree in environmental engineering desirable.
• 5–7 years of environmental regulatory compliance knowledge across air, water, and waste.
• Experience with Title V air permitting and Bay Area AQMD rules is preferred.
• Experience with federal and California environmental programs.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; project management oriented.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve programs across environmental media to comply with regs and permit requirements for California facilities.
• Develop and improve environmental compliance tools, monitoring, sampling and testing programs.
• Direct and train facility personnel in regulatory requirements and use of compliance tools.
• Prepare waste profiles and coordinate with waste disposal vendors.
• Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports to local, state, and federal agencies.
• Prepare permit applications and negotiate permits with regulators.
• Assist with environmental regulatory assessments of projects to define approvals.
• Monitor agency rule-making and assess impact on plant operations.
• Support cross-functional teams to develop practical EHS solutions.
• Interact with regulatory agencies during audits/inspections.
