Job summary

Earthjustice seeks a collaborative Senior Attorney to join our enforcement group and lead federal environmental enforcement cases. You will shape strategy, develop resources, and mentor staff while reporting to the Director of Enforcement.

This hybrid role requires two days per week in an Earthjustice office, with opportunities to litigate across the United States for communities affected by environmental harm.

Qualifications

• JD required with admission to practice law, or willingness to seek admission.
• At least eight years of experience litigating complex matters, federal environmental enforcement preferred.
• Ability to develop cases, manage a docket, and lead a litigation team.
• Experience mentoring and training others and building coalitions.

Responsibilities

• Case development and litigation: investigate, develop, pursue enforcement cases with clients, attorneys, experts, and partners.
• Lead complex cases with discovery, motions, oral argument, and trial.
• Collaborate on strategy, project management, and trial work with teams.
• Cultivate allies and maintain relationships with Tribal entities, communities, coalitions.
• Build enforcement infrastructure with planning, metrics, and cross-cutting resources.
• Train staff in enforcement strategies and litigation skills.
• Engage in external communications and media strategies with Earthjustice team.
