Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. in Oakland, CA (also Walnut Creek, Davis, or Sacramento) seeks a Senior Environmental Data Manager to lead data systems for multidisciplinary projects and ensure data quality, accessibility, and validity across environmental assessment and remediation initiatives.

You will design relational databases, automate ETL workflows, collaborate with laboratories and agencies, and mentor team members while advancing client service through robust data-visualization solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, geography, computer science, engineering, or geology (required).
• Advanced degree in one of these fields (preferred).
• At least 8 years of experience with relational database technology (required).
• Experience managing databases and developing ETL processes (required).
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Access with complex formulas and data visualization (required).
• Ability to write complex SQL queries and automate processes (required).
• Experience automating processes with Python or R (required).
• EarthSoft EQuIS experience (preferred).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license for business travel (required).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage project-specific relational database applications using SQL Server and EQuIS.
• Create documented workflows and metadata to automate data integration to maps, reports, dashboards, and tools.
• Manage environmental datasets across the full data lifecycle from planning to reporting.
• Establish and perform QA/QC for environmental data, systems, and processes.
• Compile, verify, analyze, and report large, complex datasets.
• Coordinate with laboratories, agencies, and data providers for timely data transfer.
• Collect, transform, query, and analyze environmental data.
• Deliver data-visualization solutions for environmental and geoscience projects.
• Drive project/office-site travel as needed.
